Rules & FAQ
In the interest of fair and honest tournaments the following rules will be actively enforced:
· |
Be Cool: We want all Members to feel comfortable and have fun, so yelling and swearing at people is un-cool, and may get you bounced from the event. We all have our bad beats, so try not to be a jackass when you win or lose, if you are, we may ask you to leave the Tour. |
· |
Checking the Muck is Dirty: Looking at cards in the muck is cheating - so keep your hands out of the muck or you may be asked to leave the tournament. |
· |
Rookie Mistake: If you fold, don't talk about your cards (or overtly react to cards) before the hand is over. If you know someone is bluffing watch them to gain information. |
· |
It Bugs Us: Don't be Elmer Fudd and go rabbit hunting; it slows the game down and is pointless, the hand is over. |
· |
Hover-Craft: If hovering people want to give you advice about how to play, ignore it, if they we're good players they'd still be in the Tournament. Everyone has their own style, develop your own. If you need help ask the Tournament Director. |
REGISTRATION
· |
There is no pre-registration available. |
· |
The first 80 players that arrive and register (with ID) are guaranteed seats in the Tournament. |
· |
The next 16 players to arrive are placed on a waiting list and replace players that are eliminated from the Tournament. |
· |
No player, including waiting list players, will be seated after the first hour to ensure a quality tournament for all players. |
WAITING LIST PLAYERS
· |
Late and Waiting List players will lose 500 from their starting stack every 15 minutes. |
· |
The chips do not go into play. |
· |
Players do not post when they are seated unless the open spot is the Big Blind. |
· |
If seated in the Small Blind the player waits until the button (deal) passes their position before being dealt a hand. |
BETTING RULES
· |
BETTING - When initiating action, the minimum bet is always the amount of the big blind. |
· |
RAISING - The initial raise is always double the big blind to ALL-IN. |
· |
RAISING A RAISE - The minimum raise is always double the amount of the previous raise, to ALL-IN. |
· |
ALL-IN - You can raise to ALL-IN (all your chips) in any betting round. A player that calls your ALL-IN with more than your chip total only needs to match the total of your chips. A player that calls your ALL-IN with fewer chips than you, can only win the total of their bet (you retain the difference if you lose). |
· |
SIDE-POT - A player cannot win more than the chips bet, multiplied by the number of players that equaled the bet (called). So bets placed after a player (or players) have gone ALL-IN is placed into a side-pot and goes to the best hand of the remaining players. |
· |
CHIP-OUT - Chips valued at 50, 100, 500,1000 will all be removed when they are no longer necessary. |
· |
Tournament Director Rulings are Final. |
PLAY LIKE A PRO
· |
BEFORE THE FLOP , the first person to bet is always the player to the left of the big blind. |
· |
AFTER THE FLOP , the player to the left of the dealer (and still in the hand) begins all betting rounds. |
· |
Always discard ("burn") the first card off the top of the deck before dealing any card(s). |
· |
Place all folded cards and burn cards in a discard pile. To protect all players, no one is ever allowed to look at any card in the discard pile. |
· |
If you've folded, always wait until the hand is finished before you discuss your cards. |
· |
Always wait until it is your turn to act - don't bet or announce your intention before it is your turn. |
· |
When betting, count your chips out in front of you in a stack, state "bet" or "raise" and leave them in front of you. When all bets and raises are complete - push all chips to the centre. |
· |
Always announce when you are going to raise, and state the amount. |
· |
Always concentrate and have your mind in the game. Be conscious of slow play that can reduce the number of hands people play in each round. Ask questions if necessary. |
· |
Finally, try not to be a complete jackass when you win or lose. |
· |
No string bets. A player must state their intentions (Call, Check, Raise), the amount, and must place all chips required to satisfy your intentions in one motion. You cannot go back into your chips multiple times ("stringing" the bet). |
